Determinants of Coordination Effectiveness of Selected International Agri-Food Supply Chain: A Structural Equation Modelling Approachs
Read article at Massey Research Online:
Although chain coordinators play a vital role, not enough research has been conducted to identify chain coordinators and scrutinize the linkages between chain coordinators鈥 competencies and the effectiveness of supply chain coordination(i.e., operational, social, and financial performance). From the selected international agri-food chains (i.e., dairy, meat, apples, onions, and wine), Mr Akhtar found that chief executive officers, owners, and directors occupy the role of chain coordinator. The findings also indicated that relevant education (formal and informal), training, experience, a participative leadership style, effective communication, and analytical skills are the key competencies for chain coordinators.Together with nonhuman resources (budget and technology for coordination activities) chain coordinators鈥 competencies determine the effectiveness of supply chain coordination(i.e., operational, social, and financial performance). Additionally, the nonfinancial dimensions of coordination effectiveness (i.e., operational and social outcomes) significantly enhance financial performance.
