Thesis Title
Teacher cognition about technology-mediated EFL instruction in the Thai tertiary context

Read article at Massey Research Online:

Miss Suwannasom鈥檚 research investigated what Thai tertiary teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) know, think, and believe about technology use in EFL classrooms and writing instruction. The questionnaires, interviews, observation and scenario-based tasks employed to investigate Thai teacher cognition consistently revealed that technology use which enhanced existing teaching and learning practices was strongly supported. It was found that technology-using teachers鈥 thinking and practices are highly shaped by both their teaching environment and individual beliefs about English language learning, and that teachers apply personal principles or maxims that guide their technology-using practices. The thesis has important implications for research methodology in teacher cognition, for teacher professional development, as well as policy and practice in Thai tertiary institutions.
