Qualified difference sets
Read article at Massey Research Online:
Mr Byard introduced a type of mathematical configuration called qualified difference sets. These have potential applications in astronomy, medical imaging and signal processing. The research was motivated by the desire to increase the range of available configurations for these applications. Conditions for the existence and nonexistence of qualified difference sets were proved and a number of examples were discovered.
