Associate Professor Jonathan Marshall BInfSc(Hons), BSc, PhD

Associate Professor in Statistics

Doctoral Supervisor
School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences

I am a statistian whose main research interests are in on the modelling of disease via the two main areas of source attribution and spatio-temporal modelling usually in a Bayesian context. In source attribution, I develop statistical models for determining where human cases of disease originate from putative food or environmental sources by utilising genetic signatures of disease in addition to demographic covariates. In spatio-temporal modelling I'm interested in determining trends in space and time and determining where and when case rates are in excess of expected rates to identify potential outbreaks.

I enjoy writing statistical software packages for R and have a strong interest in statistical graphics, visualisation of uncertainty and other areas of communication of statistics and science.
